March has been out of control(in a good way!) with visitors! So here are a few more sketches…
Thursday:
First, a rare sketching moment to myself at the wonderful 80 Bay cafe in Ultimo. I finally got a chance to get my smashed ipad screen fixed at a great nearby repair place… amazing how good it feels now!
With my friend Ruth at Milsons Point.
Sketching a challenging foreshortened view in ink only while talking now stop is hit and miss. I knew my lines very wrong but kept going. If it wasn’t for the correction diagram on the side, most of you wouldn’t have realised my terrible error (terrible in terms of the high standards of accuracy that ‘Liz-the architect’ wants to achieve). The sketch on the side made me feel a lot better!
Friday: north and south day
After dropping Ruth off at an oil painting workshop at Narrabeen, I drove south.
First sketch was of a street scene from the lovely Gnome Cafe in Surry Hills – catching up with Paul again.
Then after an abortive attempt to visit The Grounds (crazy busy!…I will make it there one day) we ended up at Bondi. An incomplete sketch of the view from the cafe at lunch and then time for a little walk.
The start of classic walk from Bondi to Coogee walk…which shock horror I have never done. I am not a huge fan of Bondi beach, but it sure looked good on Friday.
Love the look of Waverley Cemetery as well… one day I will get there to sketch…
Then I drove back to Narrabeen to pick up Ruth and head further north… to Palmie. A lovely walk on the beach… sometimes I just take photos…
And finished the day with fish and chips and this view over Avalon Beach.
Tuesday: USK meetings
Met up with Helen from Hong Kong USK and Irene from Sydney (who will be joining our group!). Delightful day! I was sketching with my right hand all day- more about this tomorrow.
After sketchbook swap, communication with USK HK (esp. Alvin Wong!) was made….
Two cafe visits and a visit to Parkers Art Store was a good itinerary on a day where there were patchy showers.
Three very happy sketchers – so so lovely to meet Irene and Helen today! Super fun!
