Big News: Teaching in Manchester!

January 27, 2016 | Leave your thoughts

I am super excited and thrilled to be once again teaching at this year’s Urban Sketchers Symposium in Manchester 27-30 July.

I will be sharing how I sketch architecture experimentally in edges, shapes and volumes!
Read the full workshop description here.

There are a lot of different approaches to sketching architecture and over the last two symposiums I have been sharing of the some standard ways in which I work. In this year’s workshop I want to bring some of those ideas together and demonstrate how I currently sketch buildings in a fun and experimental way.

Behind my (sometimes crazy) architecture sketching there is a structured foundation which includes switching between different ways of thinking visually. So in this workshop I want to share my three ways of visual thinking and how they apply to sketching complex buildings in a fun and exploratory way.

I believe that the ability to switch between these three different ways of visual thinking gives you the confidence to combine play with accuracy.

I can’t wait! Here are three sketches from last year where I use all three different ways of visual thinking as I work.

Hope to see you there!
