VIsiting Urban Sketchers in Surry Hills

December 19, 2015 | Leave your thoughts

Its always really great to have visiting sketchers in town! Today we had a casual sketching day in Surry Hills – a favourite spot opposite two top cafes, Bourke St Bakery and The Book Kitchen – and we pleased to have with us Chantal from New Caledonia and Will from Manchester UK.

We sat in the shade opposite and sketched and chatted!

It was lovely to have Will with us again. He comes out most years to spend Christmas with his daughter and we had a great time with him last year. Two years in a row – he is part of the USK SYD gang now!

I have to say that looking through his sketchbook with lots of wonderful sketches of Manchester (and beyond) got me really excited! If you don’t already know next years Urban Sketchers Symposium is in Manchester during July and I am just starting to work out where else in the UK I would like to visit during my stay.

Chantal is visiting for a few weeks and was told by Christian Couteau (a USKer friend from France) to get in touch with us. We had a lovely lunch on Thursday… but it was great that she could join us and meet some of the gang today.

And then it was time for lunch – the cafe was a lot quieter than normal, so a number of us kept sketching after lunch. A great relaxing day – it is just so wonderful to hang out with this group of sketchers.

Urban Sketchers certainly makes the world smaller!
