Sketching Sydney: The Rocks and Millers Point

December 28, 2015 | Leave your thoughts

I am one happy sketcher this evening! I had a great day out with the USK SYD day AND I actually got some sketching done! Normally I spend so much time chatting to friends and meeting new people at USK SYD events that I find it hard to settle down to do a sketch for myself. I have also been a bit frustrated lately that I haven’t been able to get out Urban Sketching. So to get some sketches done really hit the spot!

Today was a casual ‘adhoc’ USK SYD event and I stayed sketching till after 4pm. We had over 20 sketchers and as usual, had a lot of fun – I love the group so much!

I spent the morning sitting between Tanya and Will our international guest of honour (from Manchester) sketching an iconic building in the Rocks that I have wanted to sketch for years.

I also got to test Tanya’s Duke 551 Confucius Fude pen! (I mentioned it in my Fountain Pen Sketching Series Part 7.)

After lunch 11 of us, headed up to Miller’s Point – my favourite part of central Sydney. It is another area that I never seem to get to sketch. So I am very happy to do three sketches this afternoon.

Thanks to everyone that turned up today – and a special welcome to the ‘newbies’! It is always lovely to meet new people who have followed my blog for years, but even more so when they have done one of my online courses. They know me very well but I am meeting them for the first time. It is very special… but a little weird at the same time! Buy hey, its all part of what I do!

Here is the full collection of today’s sketchbook showing the full spreads… including my warmup/ cool down crazy ferry sketches and my notes. All part of my day today.
