TasTrip14: Sketching Workshop at TMAG Hobart

May 31, 2014 | 2 Comments

Today I ran a sketching workshop here in Hobart. We were based at TMAG and spent most of the time inside. I did a quick demo outside (a little over 30 minutes) and really it was really cold – too cold for us to sketch outside.

Lots of great things to sketch inside the museum.

I shared my core concepts for location sketching – different approaches to setup – seeing shapes and edges/texture/ pattern. Mapping light and dark and working from a strong focus.

Will be sad to leave Hobart on Monday – have had a great time and really love this city! But looking forward to revisiting other parts of Tassie and visiting Launceston for the first time.

  • Seems I missed a post! Looks like you had great groups and that you all had fun! Is that your new skirt you are wearing? Love that mocha color of the fabric. I would imagine it is rather miserable trying to sketch outside when it is cold out there. Glad you could sketch indoors too.

Had a wonderful time at the workshop and learned lots. Looking forward to putting it all into practice. Now you just have to come to Melbourne to play, Liz!
