    Thank you for the ideas. For me size determines if I like spiral or perfect binding. In large formats like A4 or A3 I’m not going to need to go across pages so being able to fold the “other” side to the back is great for handling. In smaller A6, A5 and square 5.5×5.5 and below I usually want to go across pages so perfect bound sewed and glued books work best. Size B5, 7×9 – 8×10 are in the sweet zone in between. I don’t have to go across pages often but sometimes I want to. Sigh!

      Hi John – yes, as I’ve recently appreciated anew, the size and format have a huge impact on the useability of spiral – much more important than in a normal bound book.
