First Filming Day for SketchingNow Watercolour

November 13, 2017 | 10 Comments

I had an incredible day on Thursday – my first day of filming for my next online course SketchingNow Watercolour.

I have done all the filming for my first three courses myself (or with the help of a few friends for the outdoor videos – thanks Chantal and Esther) and all the editing as well, but I knew that I needed something special for a course on watercolour.

I also wanted SketchingNow Watercolour to be a full video course as the theory sections would need to have lots of little demos. So I have hired an amazing videographer and instead of filming lesson by lesson, I’ve had to prepare multiple lessons together for a few concentrated filming days.

We had an extremely ‘full-on’ Day 1 of filming, three hours to set up all the gear and then 8 hours straight of filming with only a short 15 minute lunch break. As you can see from the photos, we are using some serious gear and multiple cameras! I’ve very excited about the quality of video that I will be able to provide for this next course.

I can’t wait for the course to go live in early 2018. I’ve been wanting to put this together for ages – a course that is dedicated to watercolour for sketching rather than traditional studio painting.

Of course it is not just the video quality that I am concerned with – I also want this course to really help people with their major watercolour sketching struggles.

If you are interested in the course and haven’t already joined the waiting list, I suggest that you do here. I am sending weekly updates and in December will be sending out a few free intro lessons in the lead up to enrollment opening. Waiting List people also get a special earlybird price!

With all my lesson prep happening at the moment, it will be no surprise to you to hear that I am in major ‘deep work’ mode to get everything ready for my next 2 days of filming. Therefore I won’t be posting as many articles here for the next few weeks. But of course, I will post updates when I can!

Please, please, please still be yourself in your new bright and shiny videos! If your red pencil lead drops out, let’s still see that – you know what I mean, keep it real, it makes it so much easier to know these things happen to everyone. Have fun! 🙂

Of course all the real things are still in there!!! The extra cameras means that when I say something silly you can see my face not just my hands. The style of content is the same just more angles and better quality image so you can see better.the goal is to be more myself as I don’t need to focus on the cameras!

Wonderful! Hope it all goes well 🙂

I’m so excited about your upcoming course, Liz. I have taken all your previous ones and they have been fantastic! I simply love the way you teach, so down to earth.

    Cheers,
    Serena 🙂
