Last week in coffee sketches

February 14, 2017 | 14 Comments

I have spent the last week packing and moving to a new home so naturally it has been very busy. On top of that, Sydney has experienced some extremely hot weather 43C (109F) – in fact parts of Sydney reached 47C (116F) – which made this past week even more challenging. And at the same time I was asked to take part in a 7-day watercolor challenge which seems to be doing the rounds on Facebook.

The only way I could do this challenge was to use my morning latte as the subject. So here are the last 7 workdays worth of coffee sketches.

All I had time for was to add a few notes at the base of each sketch about my day, however there is a record of my life encoded in the sketches.

Mo-06: I went to a cooler cafe (ie. with air conditioning) as it was a hot day.
Th-09: I had a meeting in Balmain.
Fr-10 and Mo-13: Final visits to my local cafe and saying goodbye to the friends I talk to.
Tu-14: First cafe visit in my new suburb.

I still have a little way to go before I am back to my normal posting routine, but the move went well, my new apartment is working well so far, and although extremely exhausted, I’m happy!

Thanks to everyone who left tips in my previous post.

And finally, here is a photo of my final latte in my (old) local cafe. This is the outlook I have had for the past 14 months while I sketch my coffee and plan my work. I will miss the wonderful staff and these two guys (plus their friends) who sit at the Table of Knowledge. A little more about the TOK here.

    Hi Liz,

Glad to hear that your move went well. I wanted to ask you about the grid that you use to make the lines on your journals. Can you share what it is and where can be found?

    Thanks,

Sitting in 0* C in Utah reading A W Tozer this morning and looking at your lovely post. Thank you for your testament of verses and delightful coffee sketches. It encourages me. I am working on people sketches later today.

Liz I congratulate you on making the move and thus changing your routines. A minor “re-arranging” of how we are spending our lives is good for all of us. I speak from experience. My thanks for you discussing the changes in your life and it’s effect, a good message for all your followers. Keep posting please.

all the best for the new digs Liz, as one who has lived in one spot for some 30 years I had no advice to give you on the move but am glad to hear you survived the heat. Qld has been bad too, we’ve come out of a few warm days of 40-43… yuk indeed!

  • Glad you found a little time to be creative…moving is so draining. Best wishes for your new temporary home.

I absolutely LOVE your coffee sketches! I must try to use some of my pretty cups from a cabinet where they have sit for many years just looking pretty. I must try to capture their beauty with a half cup of coffee inside.
I also like the writings of all that swirls through your mind. It is far better than a diary, richer, fullr in content. A scripture quote at each cup is very meaningful to me as well.
I am not good at time management, organization or multitasking. I’ll try to take what I have and am to make the best effort of capturing a few moments of my days.
    Thank you for sharing.

thanks Bernadetta – half drunk hot drinks in pretty cups are the best. The scripture quotes are from my daily reading from the bible.

I’m taking your online Foundations class. I LOVE THE DAILY COFFEES HERE! And the scripture from your daily Bible readings–such a splendid idea.
