Collecting books

March 22, 2013 | 4 Comments

34 books on Venice and 10 (so far) on BCN/Spain. I am not going to Venice but my friend that is wanted to borrow ‘a book’.

To explain, before I started sketching I read a LOT – I spent 3 months of solid reading before I went to Venice the first time and was a walking encyclopedia of architectural history (very very rusty now) I do need a cleanout and sort of my extensive library so thought it would be fun to collect them all. I have a ‘few’ on Gaudi- but there are a number of other architects that I own 5 or more books of. One of my Gaudi books is very special… but I will leave that for another time.

BTW, this sketch was done in a Stillman & Birn Epsilon sketchbook (for pen & ink line drawings)…but hey, let’s splash some watercolour on and see what happens….

Your drawing reminded me of a book I'm reading:
My Ideal Bookshelf by Thessaly La Force and Jane Mount

    Geat drawings and great stories

Liz, would you mind if I posted this photo, properly credited and linked to your page, on my teen blog? I'm a teen librarian in Burbank, and this summer we are asking the kids to keep a sketchbook journal. Yesterday we did a workshop to help them decide what kind of journal and what to put in it and what tools to use, and then did a little contour drawing lesson. I want to periodically post about people who journal and what kinds of things they draw and paint, and I'd love to include this (especially because it is book-oriented and study/prep oriented). Let me know.

Sorry I missed replying – probably too late now- but happy for you to share!
