Last Week: Slowing My Pace

May 1, 2016 | 6 Comments

… a little! I have to pick my pace back up this week, but it was nice last week to feel able to have a few sketch-pauses.

Of course this meant a few more cafe sketches, but I am really enjoying some of my shape experiments at the moment, so although the subject matter is the same, there are some new ideas emerging.

And you will see that I have been playing a little with my paints, exploring some nice grey mixes. I will be writing this up as a separate post down the track.

Anyway, here are the pages:

So how about you? Was last week slower or faster than normal and did that have any impact on your creation of art? I would love to hear your experiences.

Oops! Someone wasn’t careful to check the date that this post was scheduled to post and it came out a day early and on Sunday too (a day that I never use my computer let alone write a blog post!)

Every week is faster, Liz … I am taking your Edges course and another on-line class at the same time so busy, busy … I am waiting for the weather to clear but I have scoped out a couple of places where I can do my final Edges outdoor sketch … Tone priority. Absolutely wonderful class. AND sorry to say, I have fallen in love with teacups too…wonder how that happened. I have a few to work on and I have made myself a promise that if I do a good-enough sketch for the final Edges assignment I will hop into our local antique shop and pick up another set or two to paint! So enjoying all your posts. Have another outstanding week!!!

Hi Carole! Yes every week goes quicker… are we in May already? I am SO glad that you are enjoying Edges – I had so much fun putting the content together. Of course I support your decision to buy a teacup or so! Ha ha!

  • Funny I too spent quite a bit of time last week mixing greys, such fun ! I also looked at justifying the colours in my palette and pared it back to a minimum. Can I mix it ? If so, its out ! Quite enamoured with DS Lunar Earth & it’s lovely granulating possibilities currently. The week was overly full, as always !

Every week and every day nowadays are faster! we live in a crazy world not allowing us to take the time and just breathe and do what we love. It’s been three weeks since I have joined sketching now course and only managed to do half of the first weeks homework. My hands are itching to work and get on with the sketching while my life is dragging me back to daily responsibilities and life it self. But I am so glad I did it and committed to this, I will do what I love.

HI Dina… hope you can get back to it soon… but don’t put too much pressure on yourself.
