Last week I was an a mission to sketch a few red Xmas trees. This is because ‘red’ is our monthly theme for December inside my Sketching Adventure Community on Patreon.

I’ve sketched the Martin Place tree many times (including a few demos inside my Foundations course!) but the other trees were new for me. 

I don’t make a big deal about Christmas (see this article for more about that) but I do really enjoy sketching Xmas trees.

It’s so much fun to combine the colours of the decorations with the negative space of the tree and it was good to use some different forms of red.

I’m absolutely loving focusing on red this month as it is my least used hue!
