Watercolour Pencils: Scottish Landscapes

June 6, 2009 | Leave your thoughts

More landscapes done as part of Kate Johnson’s Watercolour Pencil course

Not feeling up to much tonight but looking through some of my Scottish photo albums (I have 6 of them ie. I have been 6 times!!) and doing some quick WC pencil landscapes.

WC pencils are more forgiving than plain watercolour. This one was a real disaster in terms of what I was trying to achieve but I somehow like the end result as I reminds me of how wonderful the Scottish highlands look on a dark wet day!

This is my favourite – the colours are quite realistic to the photo I took. It is almost incredible to my Australian eyes (used to bright harsh light) that this is a photo taken at midday – the shadows are just so blue.

Final landscape.. just a quickie…Time to call it quits. Actually it is quite ironic quitting on this particular sketch since this was as far as I got on the day we tried to walk to the top of this stunning hill – I had to turn around due to a very heavy head cold… and I have just the same one kind of one tonight!

I am looking forward to getting my teeth into next weeks lesson now.
