Here is my version of the huge tribute for the tragic passing away of Philip Hughes this week.
I am a big cricket fan – I never play it, but love watching it and listening to it on the radio. It is truly the sound of summer here in Australia, Christmas holidays, relaxing times with the family etc.
The only bats I have ever used were kids bats and I asked my dad to find them – they were a up in his garden shed. So I sat on the grass in the middle of the backyard where I grew up and drew them in the spot where the stumps used to be. It was a glorious afternoon – just the time of the day that my brothers and the boy next door used to play backyard cricket across the lawn. As we had no fence separating us and house next door we used to play cricket together over the combined lawns!

So sorry for your country's loss, Liz. Your celebration of the man is wonderful.
The Wall Street Journal had a long article about his life and his love of cricket. What a moving tribute.
This is a really great tribute to this talented young man. A tragic loss.
A wonderfully creative tribute Liz.
