This week in our SketchingNow Foundations re-run we are having a catchup week. A chance to let the big concepts of the first six lessons settle, and to work out ways of putting them together. So in the spirit of having ‘a breather’ here are a few stills from a video showing how I painted this week’s teacup.
Can you follow my process?
I started with shape, then thought about volumes (painting shadow shapes) and then added the pattern in a ‘feeling edges’ manner. I also did some rough minimal setup and did one bit of measuring. Click here to view the video on my Instagram feed.

It was fun to see the video of you painting the teacup. They always look so good when you do them. I need to get a few teacups so I can paint them. I always enjoy doing it but I don’t have a collection to work with. Thanks for sharing.
That’s on my list of errands for tomorrow…..visiting thee antique mall and purchasing a few lovely teacups, a variety of cup shapes and designs. I have ordinary mugs at home, and think it will be so much fun to play around with these!
