It’s a few years since I’ve drawn my clothes as part of the planning process for an upcoming trip. This is probably because my trip prep in recent years has been so focused on getting materials ready for workshops that I’ve had little time to sketch.
So it felt great to do one of these pages again today!
This page represents my current selection but it will change slightly. The act of sketching helps me make a decision!
Actually, I think that a ‘Back Home Review’ process would be more useful!
I did this in 2017 after a 4-week trip to Europe. I also reviewed my sketching kit and other bits and pieces – see more here.
So much fun! This is really getting me in the mood for travelling!

So fun to see your travel preparations (and a bit jealous too….). I really enjoyed sketching my wardrobe as part of the assignment for the water colour course, a bit to my surprise I must say. I am looking forward to going on a actual trip (later this year or next year, who knows in these times) and I will definitely be sketching my wardrobe before I go!!
Hi Martine. Iām glad you enjoyed the exercise. Hope you can indeed go travelling soon!
This has always been my favorite part of your trips—Ok, one of my favorite parts! There’s something about seeing all your clothes drawn out that appeals to me. I might do the same—although lately, it has been the same old, same old every day. Thanks for the continuous inspiration! Bon voyage!
Hi Jeanne – LOL! A few people say that. Even documenting your everyday wears will be interesting a few years down the track!!!
I always sketch my clothes & other packed stuff before a big trip but never thought to do a review sketch afterward. I guess I’m too eager to get those clothes in the laundry! š
Looking forward to traveling along with you.
Hi Barbara. I do laundry straight away too. But a review sketch can come later!
I tried your idea of drawing the clothes to take on a trip when I got ready for a Paris/Barcelona trip that ended up getting cancelled last year. But what a great help in getting clear of what I really needed and what was fluff.
Have a great time.
Glad it worked for you š
