5 day travel sketching workshop in 2017 to the Veneto area with a special emphasis on the architecture of Palladio – hence the title Palladian Odyssey.
(Note: I can hardly type those words without getting excited – I’m a bit of a Palladian fan!)
I am working with Mike Botton, a fantastic Sydney Urban Sketcher, who knows the area well from many visits during his days of running a successful furniture business. And we are heading to the Veneto later this month to plan out the itinerary for the workshop.
Mike has mapped out an exciting adventure for us ensuring that we have the finest accommodation in some historic villas, that we enjoy the best of local cuisine and wines and most importantly that our sketch locations are spectacularly beautiful. Our itinerary will also provide an insight into the Venetian culture beyond Venice itself.
All my regular readers will have noticed a lot of Palladio sketches over the last 6 months as I have been brushing up on the finer details about arguably the most influential architect in the western world. His work blows me away!
It’s a dream come true, not only to visit these buildings, but also also to use them as subject matter for a sketching workshop. But it’s not just about Palladio, the whole region is incredible, and one of the least explored regions in Italy.
Read more about the workshop, and sign up for email updates on the website.
I will be sharing my adventures with you here on the blog as well as on Facebook and my Instagram feed. (and possibly on snapchat as well: lizsteelart)
But please also follow Mike and our dedicated Palladian Odyssey feed on Instagram.
