Every few months I have a ‘zoom’ catchup with my friend Françoise from Belgium. As we talk we always sketch from a photo of recent adventures or travels. As Frannie has traveled much more than me this year, we normally do a European sketch. But this time she wanted to sketch from a Canowindra photo from my recent road trip.
This was a good opportunity for me to try a looser approach to the complex verandahed buildings of Canowindra. And so I started with a little Neocolor II!
I wasn’t really concentrating on my sketch (more focused on the current discussion) and so this is what I call reflex sketching. It’s a lot of fun!

I love this sketch Liz and I was very happy to see it because it was an example of something I’m grappling with in the Buildings course: nailing the Eyeline so that when you sketch the corner of a building or a street as you have done, you establish correctly where the lines start to shift from going up to down on both left and right hand sides of the flanks. If this makes sense!
Anyway I’ll add a question into the Discussion Form for tonight’s Livestream. Looking forward to this!
Thanks Ginie! I was very happy to answer your question last night on the livestream ?
The neocolor looks great in that sketch! There is lovely vibrancy here.
Thanks Jamie – the neocolor adds a special kind of colour
What small watercolor set have you been using? Hope I can obtain in th US!
