One week 100 people 2018 : starting Mon 5 March

February 20, 2018 | 45 Comments

I’m very excited to announce that Marc Taro Holmes and I have decided to run this 5 day challenge again. The rules are simple:

  • Sketch 100 people between Mon 5 – Fri 9 March
  • You can do it any way you want – pencil, pen, watercolour, ipad etc – and they can be quick gesture drawings or more detailed sketches.
  • The ultimate is to sketch people out on location but feel free to work from photos, or do a self-portrait series
  • Use the hashtag #OneWeek100People2018

You can read Marc’s description of the challenge here and if you are not already doing so, make sure that you start following him!

Last year it was an amazing experience! It was great to have a supportive environment for people to share all their people sketches, no matter how successful (or not) they were.   I saw great progress during the week of last year’s challenge and then followed this up with my own 100people week sketching during a conference in Austin in Oct. More here. There is something special that happens when you push yourself to keep sketching, and the goal of 20 people per day is great for that. I think I am going to set myself the difficult task of doing a 100 watercolour people sketches this year!

I hope you will join us! Are you in?

I'm in, with no gallery opening as the last day venue this time, learned that lesson well. Really not the best place to catch people, even though it is a target rich environment.
