I didn’t do anything on Australia Day this year as it was a Sunday (for me the Lord’s Day, a day of rest and worship always comes first) but my family did have a low key BBQ this afternoon in a local park – on the Australia Day public holiday.

Dad was on his own cooking the snags on the barbie so I went and kept him company…with my sketchbook of course. Just a quick sketch…. I seem to have had a minor water leak in my bag on Saturday and my watercolour pencils were damp and crayon-like – oh! nice texture!

I am very close to my family so it was nice to hang out with my parents and my 2 brothers and their families and just enjoy a lovely summer afternoon together…and the kids always seem to have a ball.

BTW:  ‘straya =  Australia… we never say “Aus-tra-li-a” too much hard work to get around all those syllables!
