Final day of our first national sketchmeet on our war memorial public holiday – Anzac Day. A few people got up early to sketch the parade, but I just headed to the 11am meeting spot a little early to do a sketch of the Gehry “Paper Bag Building” aka Dr Chua Chak Wing Building at UTS, before the other sketchers arrived.
I seemed to be more interested in catching up with our visiting sketchers than doing my own sketching this weekend. Anyway, there were already sketchers there but I did manage to get this sketch done in between conversations.
It was nice to see the finished building in context of the newly completed “Goods Line” – Sydney’s version of NYCs High Line! The last time I was in this area the building was under construction.
The final collection of sketches…
and the hard core urban sketchers on the last day.
We finished the meet with a lovely lunch at Spice Alley…
and then wandered off to do a final sketch at One Central Place. We ended up at a cafe instead, but I did draw the view. Everyone was very happy but exhausted after the 4 days of sketching.
(Note: I didn’t participate in Day 3 being a Sunday. Spending my Lords Day in rest and worship is always a priority for me – yes! even over an exciting sketching event like this)
What a wonderful weekend we all had! Mega thanks to Chris, Chantal and all the team who worked so hard to organise such a great event!
