I am starting to get used to meeting people that follow my blog but it is still special every time I meet a person behind a ‘hit’. But on my recent trip to Brazil for the 5th International Urban Sketchers symposium something different happened – I met many people who had done my klass in Sketchbook Skool!
The things I write on my blog are often very personal reflections on my own work and so when I meet blog followers for the first time I feel that they already know me even though we are total strangers. But to meet sketchbook skoolers was another whole level of connection.
During my week in the Seeing Kourse, I talked directly to the klass (via a video camera!), I invited them into my home, into my studio, shared my sketchbook collection with them and the journey I have had in the past 8 years…and shared some of the secrets behind the way I work.
And even more…during the week of my klass I felt like I shared a cup of tea with them… with all of them every day that week. There were a lot of people in the klass – I saw a lot of peoples work in the klassroom and on the facebook group… but there were many many people whose work I didn’t see at all… and some of these people were in Brazil last month and came up to say hi!
And then when I was in Rio last week… a few of us drank some tea together!
Sketchbook Skool has certainly made the world feel even smaller.
