I am very pleased to announce that booking is now open for the Palladian Odyssey travel workshops which have developed in association with Mike Botton (tour director and local Sydney Urban Sketcher). The workshop goes over 5 days and we have two tour dates available in May/June 2017. Please check out all the details on the Palladian Odyssey website.
We visited the region in June to plan the workshop, and have put together an amazing itinerary filled with a range of travel experiences. There are lots of great locations to sketch including a number of buildings designed by Andrea Palladio – arguably the most influential architect in western architectural history.
Over 5 days we will visit some of the most famous Palladian villas with their wealth of classical artworks and manicured gardens. We will explore the city of Vicenza home of Palladio and some of the most stunning palaces in Italy as well as visit some of the lesser known hill towns always characterised by the ubiquitous Venetian campanile (bell tower). The tour will include accommodation, the best of local produce and traditional cuisine as well as tastings of fine local wines.
The Palladian Odyssey workshop will include time in Vicenza, including a chance to sketch the magnificent Loggia del Capitaniato by Palladio. Those of you doing my SketchingNow Buildings course will have just watched a full video demonstration of me doing a sketch of this building. This workshop will be an opportunity for you to do one yourself! It is such a wonderful building from which to learn many of the essential skills for sketching architecture.
Anyway – please visit Palladian Odyssey to read the full details and drop Mike an email if you have any questions.
