A million views later....

Last week I hit 1 million views on my Flickr! I can’t quite comprehend the enormity of that number….a lot of people doing a lot of looking!
Many of the Flickr views have come from my blog viewers… So….thank you!!!!

Thanks to every one for coming to visit and for all the encouragement over the last 4 years. There is no doubt that I would not have sketched as much or have developed my skills as much without the encouragement and inspiration that I have gotten online!

Anyway I thought it would be fun to have a look at what I posted on my first upload (I had been sketching for just over a year when I tentatively first started a flickr account)

… It is very illuminating to see what type of sketches I choose at upload.
1. A Food Sketch. This was certainly early days in my sketching of food….but I love the fact that I was able to include my friends in the exercise – recording their verdict on the food.
2. A baroque Sketch (from Rome). Interesting textures I was experimenting with at the time -using citrus stripper and photocopier… Haven’t done that since but of course I have sure done a lot of Roman Baroque sketching!
3. A cup of tea Sketch… And Earl Grey as well. Hmm, need I say more. (In fact back then I didn’t sketch many cups of tea…honest!)
4. A ‘just-one-more-sketch-before-I-hit-the-road” sketch … A quick pop into the succulent garden at the Botanic Gardens after a visit to the Archibald Prize at the Art Gallery…I really needed to be on my way to a birthday party that afternoon but just wanted to do a quick sketch before I left the city. The Botanic gardens has featured in my sketchbook a lot in over the past 18 months and will continue to do so.
5. A harbour view sketch. I love living in Sydney and particularly love Sydney harbour. Sketching harbour sites and especially those with remnants from the past is a big theme in my sketching outings.

So… It is funny that right at the beginning of my online experience the trends were there already!!!!!
