All Packed for upcoming adventures in Penang and Singapore

Following my usual tradition, I have just finished packed and celebrate doing so with a sketch. This time is a little different in that I am fully packed 24 hours early – I don’t leave till Monday morning – because tomorrow is the Lords Day which is my day of rest and worship. (more about this in the next part of this blog post!)

A Steel Christmas Tree

We don’t make a fuss at Christmas but we do try to all get together sometime in late December. Today was the day. First time at my eldest brothers place – presents are for the kids (mostly).  I didn’t have any present opening to do today so I was free to sketch the tree although there was serious distraction watching  the excitement of the little ones.

Well that it my Xmas sketch out of the way for this year – so once again I wish everyone a great festive season!

[BTW, although a Christian I do not celebrate Christmas as a religious event. There is no command in the bible to celebrate the birth of Christ (the origins of Xmas is generally agreed to be ‘pagan’) Instead I celebrate the resurrection of Christ every single week – resting from my labours (and sketching) and having a wonderful dedicated day of worship which we call The Lords Day (a Christian ‘sabbath’) Without getting into a debate – this I believe is a command of the bible…and the Lords Day is the best day in the week for me. One day a week is far better than only one day in the year – don’t you think?!]

Loved the sketchbooks review and followed this link. I am happy we can each choose how to honor our faith.

Since I love celebrations as a way to share God’s love, I find that the month of anticipation (Advent) and a day is community and gratitude (on Christmas) is a great way to refocus on the peace and joy Jesus brings.

Your sketches are such an inspiration and gift to the eye and heart. Thanks.
