The red bin

There is a little Scavenger Hunt happening over at the USK AUS facebook group as we recently hit 200 members.

The warmup challenge was to draw something red.

I know the intent of the Urban Sketchers challenge is to encourage people to get out on the streets sketching… but it is just hard for me to find the time to do that right at the moment…I just feel constant pressure to be my studio working and keeping up with an insane amount of emails. I saw rows of red bins on the street the other day when I was rushing around but didn’t have time to stop. So here is a compromise… the red bin outside my studio!

Otto bins are so big and hard to fit into a convenient spot without destroying a view…. but I just realised that I rather like the colour of the lids of the three in a row. They sit on some brick paving and are partially hidden by greenery.

I am trying to get the hang of a new brush (long sword liner sable blend by Rosemary) and not succeeding in the control aspect… I had way more water than I intended, it was splashing paint everywhere and I was getting one colour bleeding into another… but hey I love the uncontrollableness of watercolour.

And yes, my green bin isn’t really turquoise… but I was just in need of some CTL.
