Sketching on coffee cups for the Aroma Festival in The Rocks

The third day in a row for me in the Rocks…

Today the USK SYD gang drew on coffee cups as well as in their sketchbooks. One of our members who has been working on the events for The Rocks Aroma Festival ask us if we would like to draw on some cups and submit to a coffee installation. So here was our results for the day.
We were all amazed at how nice the recycled paper cups were to draw on AND paint. The surface seems waxy but watercolour applied wonderfully.

It was another glorious sunny winters day and so lots of sat outside sipping coffee and drawing on coffee cups.

I almost had a sketchless USK event today. I did do a quick sketch on a cup to see how much granulation I could achieve but for a number of reasons didn’t get the sketchbook out at all.

Walking back to the car I was debating whether to stop and do a quick sketch or head straight back to a family gathering… in the end I decided to do a quick sketch. This is of St Marys cathedral done with my other hand (right hand) and done on the new moleskine paper front (textured side) Although I don’t like the paper much at all… I am learning to work with it and how to lessen the ‘yucky’ textured effects.
