Rocks Workshop Day 1

July 10, 2014 | 1 Comment

Today was the first day of my 2 day Sketching on Location workshop…and ah! I had so much fun!
It is important for me to do some sketching just for myself on teaching day when so much energy is spent helping other create and today I sketched on my train journeys.
I get a little bored drawing the backs of people – if I draw people (which I don’t do as much as I like) I want to see their personality. For the record I don’t seem to scan all my people sketches that I do – ie. I do more than I share. Nice to do a very simple clean page in my sketchbook….(I need to preserve energy for teaching!)

A few photos from the day. Using the wonderful wonderful Teacosy tearoom as our classroom. I love this place- the owner and staff are amazing…AND I love the fact that today we got to draw the teacups. They have an impressive collection of beautiful teacups.

And yet again, I have a great bunch doing the workshop – a range from beginners to more advanced. I am sharing core concepts that I use every day when I sketch and as always we all learn so much from each other.

We only spent about 1.5 hours outside this afternoon…it was cool but bearable.
Looking forward to more fun tomorrow!

  • Don't know what Moo cards are, but they are sure gorgeous with all those sketches in your last post. Just seeing what you are doing with your students here makes me so want to be in one of your classes!! Looks like so much fun…And I don't know why, but I think seeing your tea cup sketches is ALWAYS a favorite of mine. There are so many gorgeous sets out there!!
