In Melbourne

April 4, 2015 | 8 Comments

I am Melbourne over Easter and beyond for a little break. I came down with Chris Haldane (keep an eye on her instagram feed for some of her amazing work) to sketch and meet up with friends – in particular our great friend Alissa Duke who moved to Melboune last year (we miss her a lot). We started our visit with heading straight from the airport to Finders St Station to sketch- it was a wild and windy (very windy) day so it was a lot harder to sketch this than you would think.

Anyway here is what I have been up to in the last three days, I have been doing a little bit of right handed work as my left hand still needs a rest – wonder if you can guess which is which….

Friday: North Melbourne.
Town Hall Auction Rooms cafe – outside and in
(Hint: All right handed this day!)

Saturday: East Melbourne with Alissa
but first a crazy RH of The Forum

  • Such a lovely place you live and work and visit, Liz. Your friends look like they are lots of fun to hang around with too. Love the line of old buildings you sketched too and the station is phenomenal!

  • Love your sketches!!! Wish I was there!!!

Looks like you've been having a great time! Love your right-handed work. (My left-handed efforts would not be fit for public perusal – I'm impressed!). I especially love your right-handed Forum – the style really suits the building. Not sure if I will get to catch up with you this time round 🙁 Hopefully before too long though!

Great fun to see familiar landmarks transferred to your sketchbook especially Flinders St and at a guess, the East Melbourne elegance. I enjoyed these sketches and also the ones you posted in 2013. I'm really looking forward to 'Seeing' and hope it starts mighty soon as I'm heading to Lord Howe Is. (with sketchbook) at the end of May. Will be out of touch for that week. Looks as though you enjoyed your Easter Melbourne visit.
    Cheers,
    Ros.

thanks Jodi! The forum sketch was so hard to do and yet now on the page itlooks so fun and alive … it is very strange…but our eyes are the same no matter which hand we use!
