Melbourne Sketches - Part 1

May 12, 2015 | Leave your thoughts

I am finally getting around to posting my sketchbook from a recent trip to Melbourne, which I will share over three posts. On my return I wrote about Seven Reflections from this trip which you can read about here.

I think the sketches speak for themselves, but if you wish to read more (including photos) check out this set of posts written during my fortnight in Melbourne.

Update: I decided to add a one line description to every image.

The usual flight sketch… trying something different.

First sketch – it had to be of Flinders St Station – the grand view of the most important building and intersection in the city.

Looking the other direction from the same spot to Federation Square… and couldn’t resist another one of Flinders St Station.

Looking for a warm cafe at the end of the day, I found myself opposite the Supreme Court Library building (guess who works there) and enjoyed late afternoon tea at Laurent.

My right handed day (I am normally left handed!) at North Melbourne with some local USKers. The Auction Rooms from the outside…

North Melbourne Town Hall… sideways!

The Auction Rooms inside… YUM! First Melbourne coffee sketch… warning: many more to come!

Right handed sketch of the Forum building on Flinders St.

A lovely day with Alissa Duke and time in East Melbourne.

Out of town day with my friend – managed a super quick (15 min) sketch of the main wide (very wide) street of Ballarat.

Wet day in Carlton with Chris Haldane. Spent a few hours at the wonderful Cafe Lua.

Had enough time while Chris was doing a masterpiece to do these two of the views out of the cafe.

Super quick sketch under an umbrella while waiting for a tram.

Afternoon visit to Richmond… I drew this street view standing up after the rain had stopped.

Just missed my train, so decided to miss another one and do two more sketches of Flinders St Station again, and Federation Square.
