Just a quick post today to let you all know that today I started filming for my upcoming online course SketchingNow Buildings (coming in September) and I am pumped!
It was a very windy day – leaves kept landing on my sketchbook – and we had fun following the sun. Ah, external weather conditions are always part of the story, hey?
I won’t give away what I was sketching, but I can tell you that it was a wonderfully complex building with lots of different volumes and details that I simplified a lot.
I’m really excited about the content of Lesson 1 – it will be an expanded version (with lots of brand new stuff) of what I will be teaching in this years Urban Sketchers Symposium in Manchester, using edges, shapes and volumes to build all the specific observational skills you need for understanding and sketching buildings.
Stay tuned for more details about my USK workshop as I prepare for that in the coming weeks. Not long to go now.
And finally, a huge thanks to everyone who left a comment on my post last week. Your thoughts are extremely helpful as I prepare the course material.
It is not too late to share your major challenges sketching buildings – leave a comment here or on that post.
