090429 EDiM Title Page

090429 EDiM TitlePage
Ok... getting the book ready to start on Friday... here is the title page.
Now, it might seem a soft option to start with the bear but in fact the big issues are raised by this sketch... getting the proportions right in order to achieve a likeness. Poor old Borromini's head is way too big and his little beady eyes aren't quite the right distance apart.
However I am sure that most of you have recognized him!!

  1. Liz,
I love your drawings and I think you are really corageous for deciding to go ahead and draw people. Good for you!!!! I also struggle with ddrawing people - I don't think either one of us is probably bad at it - we are probably just afraid of the unfamiliar. I've seen your work and some of your sketches of people and I think you will do a fabulous job and that you have little to be afraid of except the fear itself (isn't that a cliche statement???) Anyways... I wish you luck and confidence on your adventure this month of May.
May I ask you a question about everyday matters and the challenge you talked about though? I have joined the group but I can't figure out how to find out what the challenges are and how to participate in them. Any advice???

  2. I have just discovered your blog and could spend hours, even days perusing it. I wondered where your blog's name came from and I'm glad to meet Borromini Bear. I am curious how on earth you pronounce this name. Could you send me a little phonetic workup on this word? and how you came up with it, what it means, etc. Curiosity you know...
