SEGOVIA WITH SUNDAY NOTES Here is the finished page from yesterday with notes from the sermons and other things I have been reading.... including starting to write the date wrong. (Have whited out names of people I spoke to at church and personal details - but the rest is all there if anyone is interested....)
MONDAY'S FOOD My pages are getting more colourful and my sketches smaller. I am now getting a bit of feel for what I should be eating and realising that our lives revolve around too much carbs!! Well, mine did anyway!
What to do when you make a real mess? Well, I drew another sketch on Sheer Heaven paper when I got home and have stuck it over the top (on one side only)...so now I have an 'interesting' effect but can still lift it up to see and learn from the mistakes of the original. BTW SH paper is great!!! .... http://www.dotcalmvillage.net/cre8it/sheerheaven.html">www.dotcalmvillage.net/cre8it/sheerheaven.html
Sketching a lot these days - and even in public but it is only more food!
Thursday: I ended up drawing dinner twice once on location and then to fill my food diary page up.... the counting is getting a little easier (if I am doing it right!)
Sketching on a small table in a middle of a restaurant while you are eating dinner does seem to draw attention... hard to do when the food is so good! Out to dinner again - I have a friend visiting. Too much Asian food in the last 24 hours? Buffet breakfast at the hotel I was staying was a nice treat. I feel like I ate so much food today but still roughly within my target - after the strict weight loss diet this amount of food seems so excessive - and a bit rich!
I have now done this for 2 weeks... not sure how long I will be able to keep it up (maybe I am just tired tonight...)
Ok, I don't really HAVE to start counting till next week...but it is so tedious that I thought I better get into the swing of it before then. Once I get the hang of this counting thing, I am going to enjoy the layout challenge of incorporating my counting table into my spread. For now, I sit at the table eating, drawing and then looking up Calorie counters and my TF diet literature to see if I am getting it right! Will be worth it in the long run!
Went a bit crazy with colour today!! Can you tell I am having a ball doing this journal? despite the tedious counting....
My intention was to draw the EDM challenges from life... but sometimes it is hard to get out to do so. So if I have to draw from a picture, at least I try to find an exciting one - and one of my own travel photos. Italy again.....
Another Scottish scene (from my travels) to use as a background for my Sunday notes (on the rest of the spread)
A freezing winter late afternoon - I am not used to these subtle and purple tones. (My squirrel brush was a real struggle with this one and I added a fair bit of pen work afterwards- which I rarely do!)
Oh! I had so much fun doing this. I will not be able to do this everyday but quiet day at home taking it easy today.
Working on the one drawing at different times during the day has some quirks - shadows from all directions and different colours and looks like I had my banana with my dinner. And that bowl is so wonky - but I am trying not to use pencil setups at all!
I am not necessarily going to draw all food everyday - but it WAS fun today. Did these at various times during the day. This book is more an exercise in journalling than sketching. Also the sketches have to be quick - super quick!
A new project! As I am now going into a maintenance phase of my diet I have to start counting calories and carbs. Inspired by Brenda, a fellow journaller, I have started a new pocket moleskine for a food diary.
How exciting - after 16 weeks of a strict diet I celebrate by having sushi for lunch! I really should not have splurged so much - so much rice might prove to be too much for my system. I was supposed to be a bit more restrained and only have 2 slices of low GI soy linseed bread. Needless to say I enjoyed it!
Funny how most of my sketches are either buildings or food?!
A totally random and loose sketch before bedtime... I am very tired but am addicted to sketching at the moment- it is so much fun and I find it so relaxing - especially when it is a doodle like this one is.
